This is today’s forecast in Melbourne town; Freezing, but summer feels like its on the horizon. This song by ‘Walter Meego’ puts me in a happy place. (ect the guitar sounds like pub anthem ‘Jessie’s girl’. Did i just wreck the song for you?)

Appaloosa - The Day We Fell In Love (mp3)

For all you kids who never made it to pony club, Appaloosa take their name from a type of horse. Their soft, rich and very French take on electro is straight out of an arthouse dream sequence; an antidote to late nights, heavy deadlines and all kinds of excess. You could say it’s the perfect early week listening music to revive your over-stimulated mind.

Last night i had the pleasure of seeing and chatting to Lightspeed Champion at the Northcote Social Club in Melbourne. The set included a lot of the songs off his debut album, falling off the lavender bridge, but also included a star wars tribute, and a few brand new ones (one they learned that day in sound check)
It seems there is a lot on the horizon for Dev with 2 albums in the works. One being a ’slick pop-esk vibe’ (in talks to be worked on by a high profiled pop/rap producer)
The other being something that similar to what were used to, cant wait.
If your in Sydney tonight (31.07) he is playing at the Oxford arts factory, i highly recommend; (even if its just to check out his drummer….. BABE;)……

So, Lykke Li has been up the top of my list of album of the year, and the remixz that have come out for ‘I’m good I’m gone’ have been quite good (check out the Fred Falke mix).
I have always have claimed that ‘Little bit’ is one of the best song on the album, and if anyone ever did a remix it would be amazing.
Well almost….
CSS have tried there hand at it and have made a very blase effort.
I’ve been a fan of a few of their efforts, Cribs- men’s needs, Kylie- WoW. Don’t get me wrong I like what they have done, but maybe I’m just way to close to the original that nothing will come close.
Make up your own mind……

I’ve only been recently made aware of this scene in France, where contrary to what the cool kids think, techno is still relevant.

Miami Horror has collaborated with legendary French bassist Fred Falke to remix Pnau’s latest single Embrace featuring the one and only Ladyhawke. This remix will be released as part of the Australian duo’s next single push in Australia, while they get ready to have their album released in the Northern Hemisphere from their new base home of London.

Monty’s Loco - Heavy
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 6 or above) is required to play this audio clip. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Causing a ruckus all the way from Stockholm, Sweden, it’s hard to believe Monty’s Loco is made up of only two members. The sometimes squeaky, often husky vocals are provided by Anja, while Marie handles the instruments all on her own. Together they create an eccentric mash of moody rock, post-angst and girlish pop. Their second album, Farewell Mr Happy, is a bit like a fairy tale in musical form. You get a sneaking feeling they are trying to teach you something, but you’re going to go along for the ride anyway.

The Raveonettes - ‘You Want The Candy’
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 6 or above) is required to play this audio clip. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
With a vague hint of 90s era Shirly Manson vocals, The Raveonettes walk a fine and sultry line between dark and moody, wispy and ethereal. True to their Danish roots, they are one minute soft and sweet, brutally harsh the next; all raspy vocals and machinery noise. Kind of hot, if you like that sort of thing. Try not to despair if you missed their recent Sydney appearance, you can still get in on the action via their recent LP release, Lust Lust Lust.

I’ve always wanted to get a photo published in Rolling Stone and thanks to the big-ass billboards in Indonesia, my photo of Young and Restless is in June 2008’s issue of the Australian edition of Rolling Stone! woooo
